Biography - Carolyn Campbell

Carolyn is a Colorado native, raised in Denver and graduated from the University of Colorado. She lived in South America for ten years where she taught school and raised a family. Her books of poetry and painting reflect that experience. After returning to the United States, she became an award winning poet and novelist while continuing to teach. She has published four books of poetry, all of which won First Place in poetry with the the Colorado Authors League, a group of professional writers. She was awarded the Colorado Book Award for Tattooed Woman, a collection of poems, and also finalist for her first novel. Fireweed, A Womanís Saga in Gold Rush America, also won a national first place award and finalist for the Willa Literary Award for historical fiction. For the past few years, Carolyn has returned to her love of art and dedicated herself to oil painting, taking classes with Kim English, Ron Hicks, Steve Tracy, and Chuck Ceraso. She has had two one-woman shows and exhibited in several galleries. Presently, her work may be seen at Christies of Genesee as part of Evergreenís Artists With Altitude.
